Bio
Hudson Paul is a 14-year-old saxophonist, composer, and music lover. Known for his original sound and style, influenced by players like Cannonball Adderley, Johnny Hodges, Jackie McLean, Charlie Parker, Charles McPherson, and others. Hudson has performed at many well-known jazz clubs as well as sitting in at the Birdland jazz club in NYC. He also has upcoming performances this fall, winter, and spring at Dizzy’s Club in NYC and the Atrium at Jazz at Lincoln Center via the Jazz at Lincoln Center Jazz Academy.
Hudson comes from a musical family. He is the grandson of 49-time GRAMMY-nominated and 8-time GRAMMY award-winning conductor and composer José Serebrier. He is also the grandson of GRAMMY-nominated Metropolitan Opera Soprano Carole Farley. His mother, a former professional singer, has performed all over the world and has performed with Aretha Franklin. His father, a former classical saxophonist who studied with Don Sinta at the University of Michigan School of Music.
Hudson is passionate about music, focusing on Jazz performance and jazz and classical composition and arranging. Hudson plays multiple instruments such as alto saxophone (primary), soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, clarinet, piano, and drums. He has had the opportunity to study saxophone with Charles McPherson, Chris Lewis, Dan Block, Troy Roberts, Steve Kortyka, Jimmy Greene, and David DeJesus.
Hudson is also a professional, award-winning actor and can be seen on television series such as Law and Order SVU, Chicago PD, New Amsterdam, Up Here, Blue Bloods, Saturday Night Live, Sesame Street, and more. He can also be seen in numerous short films, feature films, and theatre performances.
